Counseling Department

March 9,2020

Dear Parent/Guardian(s),

It is that time of year! Time to talk with your child about high school registration, graduation, and post high school planning. This week your child will be bringing home a registration form. Ms. Ferrell (the 9th grade counselor) and I will be discussing this form along with class choices and things to consider when making these choices during their Library class this week. It is our goal that each student will be able to have informed conversations with their parent/guardian regarding their class choices. While they will fill the registration form out during class, they will bring the form home for your input and signature. If you have concerns or changes that need to be made, then this will be your opportunity to address these. If you have specific questions, contact Ms. Ferrell at the Coffee County Raider Academy at 723-3309. Students will return the forms to their ELA teacher. On March 25 & 26 Ms. Ferrell will return to CCMS pick up the forms and to meet individually with your student to discuss any questions concerning their class choices.

The Coffee County Raider Academy will come to CCMS on March 24 and speak with all 8th grade students.  They will host an open house on Tuesday March 24 from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Please make plans to attend the open house.

This year was the third year of our Career Expo which was held in October. This opportunity allowed students to begin early in the year exploring career interests. The job shadow experience which will occur in May can be very informative in helping students see “real life” careers in action.  I have spent time with your student throughout the year talking with and preparing them for their transition to High School. I will continue with this until the end of the year. It always takes me by surprise when our 8th graders suddenly are on the verge of leaving us and becoming “high schoolers”. It has been a pleasure to know them and to be a part of their journey. If you have questions or concerns, you can always contact me via email: or by calling the school at 723-5177.
