Drivers’ Permit Certificate Information
In order to obtain a Learner’s Permit or Driver’s License in the state of Tennessee,
you must be in compliance with the Compulsory Attendance Law. When you go to
the Department of Transportation, you will need to take a certificate from the
school with you that verifies you are in compliance with this law.

You must meet the following requirements in order to request a certificate:
Requirements:
• You must be at least 15 years of age.
• You must pass more than half of your courses during the previous semester.
• You must have fewer than 15 non-consecutive unexcused absences and/or days
of suspension during the previous semester OR fewer than 10 consecutive
unexcused absences and/or days of suspension during the previous semester.

Procedures for Requesting Certificate:
• Email request to Mrs. Keasling at keaslingm@k12coffee.net.
• Request must be made AT LEAST 72 hours before the certificate is needed
• Certificates must be picked up at the front desk during normal school hours

Certificates are only good for 30 days! ***

***Birthdays in the summer: Students who have birthdays in the summer while
school is out, can request certificates the last month of school. Certificates that
are issued in the last month of school will be valid through the entire summer.
